Today we're shining a spotlight on Sara Cavolo! Sara will be a Girls on the Run NYC SoleMate for the TCS New York Marathon in November!
Why are you running for Girls on the Run? Well, why not?!?! When I moved to NY a year ago I wanted to be a part of something meaningful within the community. My passion has always been working with youth and sports. Finding GOTR literally merged both those passions for me into one super passion. And with the extra girl power bonus!! What better way to impact girls than through instilling in them the confidence and joy that comes with achievement through sport.
Is this your first marathon? No, this will be my second full marathon. I ran the Chicago Marathon in 2010. I have also run six Half Marathons and many smaller races.
Favorite place to run? My favorite place to run is along the Strand in Redondo Beach, CA. You can run along the beach from Redondo all the way up to Santa Monica if you wanted to. It's gorgeous! However, here in NYC, I enjoy running in Prospect Park and along the boardwalk in Rockaway Beach.
Favorite time of day to run? Weekdays after work, Weekends mid-morning
Favorite post-run snack/meal? A really cold Watermelon Water to rehydrate followed by bagel egg sandwich..the only time I enjoy bagels! ;)
Favorite running accessory? The Stick! Clearly, I don't run with it, but it is my pre and post run savior.
Group or solo run? Solo.
What shoes do you run in? Nike Air Zoom Odyssey 2 in this really awesome orangey/red color. I tell myself that my feet are on fiyah (usually in the tune of Alicia Keys- Girl On Fire).
Favorite non-running activity? SPIN class! or softball.
Farthest distance you’ve run? In my lifetime...26.2, to date for this training 16.
