Lauren, Brooklyn "I volunteered as a running buddy a few years ago, and decided afterwards to get more involved. I found out about the Solemates committee, and as a runner, decided that was a good way to get involved. I just ran the NYC Marathon as a Solemate a few weeks ago!"

Erin and Alexandra, New York "My cousin volunteers with GOTR in Texas and we wanted to do something fun and encouraging for girls. And something to promote physical activity and healthy living at a young age."

Sam, Emma, Maddie, and Joanne, Columbia University’s Gamma Phi Beta "We are volunteering through Gamma Phi Beta’s philanthropy. It’s really important to us. We did it last year as just a regular volunteer, and this year we’re running. GOTR represents some of the core values to our sorority. It’s one thing to just raise money, but to see how it impacts the girls by the looks on their faces is something different. Being this age is hard for girls – having a role model is so important. It’s good to be that for them."

Sara, Brooklyn "I think the org has a wonderful mission to empower girls through friendship and exercise. Sports were really important to me growing up and I wish I had a program like this when I was younger."
