The Girls on the Run NYC 5k celebrates our girls and their 10-week season of learning about the importance of taking care of our emotional and physical health. Join us as a Runner/Walker or Volunteer this December!

Volunteer Roles:

As girls from across our area come together to achieve their goals on 5k day, they will be depending on volunteers like you to help them shine! The volunteer registration fee is $10 and includes a GOTR fandana. All volunteers must complete a background check. Volunteer registration closes November 15 at 12 pm.

You can sign up as an individual volunteer, or recruit friends & colleagues and sign up as a team! Questions about team volunteer opportunities? Email us at 5k@gotrnyc.org.

Below are our 5k volunteer opportunities:

  • Field Set-Up: Field Team volunteers set-up and break down team site flags, and also manage our exciting start and finish line, supporting our girls as they complete the 5k & guiding them safely back to their coaches. Some heavy lifting will be required. Arrival time: 7:30 am

  • Registration: Registration volunteers help check-in runners and distribute t-shirts to 5k participants (non-program participant runners), then cheer on the course once the 5k run/walk begins. Arrival time: 7:45 am

  • Activity Stations: Activity station volunteers help generate excitement for the girls and families with fun activities before the 5k begins, such as the Happy Hair station and photo booth, and also support bag check & the GOTR Shop. Arrival time: 8 am

  • Course Marshal:  Course Marshal volunteers will serve as cheerleaders along the course, supporting our girls and their running buddies! They will also help to ensure safety of all participants and assist with handing out water to participants on the course. In this role, you may need to walk up to 1.5 miles. Arrival time: 9 am
