Why Girls on the Run? Because Girls on the Run is so much fun!
Swimming was a major part of my life as a young girl, and in many ways has shaped me into the woman that I am today. It’s inspiring to see GOTR teaching girls the same invaluable life lessons that I developed through swimming in creative, healthy, and accessible ways. I’m so proud to be a SoleMate and be part of such an impactful team!
Is this your first marathon? This is my second marathon. I have a (super long term) goal of running a marathon in every state. I ran the Mt. Nittany marathon in Pennsylvania with my parents two years ago, and I’m registered for Big Sur April 2017. After that, I’ll only have forty-seven to go!
Favorite place to run? When I’m in New York, I love to run across Brooklyn Bridge early in the morning. Prospect Park is a close second.
My favorite place to run in the world is where I grew up in central Pennsylvania. The hilly terrain makes for tough but incredibly serene runs. My dad has a “berry run” route that we do to collect wild berries for extra energy during distance runs.
Favorite time of day to run? I typically run immediately after work during the week. It’s the best way to unwind at the end of the day! I like to run as soon as I wake up on the weekends.
Favorite post-run snack/meal? Bananas! Also avocado toast. Not together.
Favorite running accessory? I recently started using a water belt for longer runs, and it’s been such a game changer. Running is so much more enjoyable when you’re properly hydrated.
Group or solo run? Both! Distance runs can be boring without a buddy.
What shoes do you run in? My mom recently converted me to Brooks. I’m currently in Brooks Ghosts and can’t rave about them enough.
Favorite non-running activity? I love spending time outdoors with friends or a good book.
Farthest distance you’ve run? 26.5! (We took a wrong turn.)
Inspirational Quote/Words to Live By? "You’re only one workout away from a better mood."
What’s your Myers-Briggs? "The logician,” INTP :)
