Today we're shining a spotlight on Allison Behringer! Allison will be running her first marathon, the TCS New York Marathon, as a SoleMate in November!
Why Girls on the Run? Growing up, I was always involved in sports. Playing lacrosse and field hockey and running taught me about discipline, work ethic, teamwork and how to push myself, mentally and physically. It's also where I made most of my friends and where I found adults who mentored me and cared about my well-being. I love Girls on the Run's commitment to providing this experience for girls through running. I couldn't think of a better organization to support!
Is this your first marathon? First one ever! Thrilled to be running through the city I've come to call home.
Favorite place to run? Prospect Park in Brooklyn and across the East River bridges
Favorite time of day to run? Ideally, late morning or late afternoon. Practically, early morning.
Favorite post-run snack/meal? Omelette with tons of veggies.
Favorite running accessory? Recently got one of those running belt/fanny packs. Still getting used to the jostling and added weight, but the gummy snacks and water are making all the difference on my long runs.
Group or solo run? Some of both.
What shoes do you run in? ASICS
Favorite non-running activity? Biking, cooking, anything outdoors.
Farthest distance you’ve run? 20 miles
Inspirational Quote/Words to Live By? "You are what you repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."
What’s your Myers-Briggs? ENFP
